Direct Transfer to DVD or Tape Formats. We use the highest possible video standard available for the format whether it standard audio/video, S-Video, BNC, XLR, component, composite or firewire.
The first step is to organize the originals in order of appearance and we check the time on each of your originals so we can utilize the new media to fit as much as possible, but without degrading the quality of the original.
VHS to DVD
Act One Pictures most common transfer. It’s very affordable to transfer those VHS tapes (or VHS-C and Betamax) to DVD. Since videotape is a magnetic medium, it degrades a little every day, so we encourage people with VHS collections to transfer their footage to digital media ASAP. Video Transfer To DVD
Practically any type of media can be transferred to DVD and we can fit up to 120 minutes onto a DVD playing at “SP” speed. We also offer discounts for multiple originals and video libraries. Act One Pictures is most known by AV Professionals for our quality BetacamSP, MiniDV, and DVCAM tape transfers and copies. We work hand in hand with most of the local Broadcast Television Stations in San Diego. We use the highest possible transfer method for the format, whether it’s standard Video out, S-Video, component, BNC, XLR, Firewire, USB 2.0 or any other input/output connection, Act One ensures the highest possible quality available today.
Act One can capture most video formats to an external hard drive. We capture video in one of our editing suites using Final Cut Pro, which makes a DV codec Quicktime .mov file. These files can be converted to any other format required for customer editing or compressed to use on the web and or computer files. You can supply your own external hard drive* or purchase one from us.
*Be aware that some pre-formatted drives might only accept files 4GB or less.
Are you doing business in other countries or do you have family in foreign lands? Different countries have different video formats. Normally they are either “PAL” or “SECAM”. The American standard is called “NTSC”. Convert foreign videos so they will play on your DVD player or VCR or change your originals to send overseas. We can convert your U.S. video so it will play anywhere.

Crash Edits
A "Crash Edit" is a pause in the recording to add additional tape/chapter onto the same DVD. If you have multiple originals, we can "Crash Edit" portions together in our duplication department. The image on the screen may break for a few seconds after each edit. Some color correction can be done during this direct transfer process but is limited as the transfer is not monitored throughout the entire play/record process. Monitiored recording is available at an additional cost.
Crash Edits: $5.00 each
Monitored Recording: $30/hr.
Chapters And Titles
Custom title and chapters markers are included with each start of a media. Additional chapter markers can be added at an additional cost. $5 each.
Printing And Packaging
We can label your new masters with black or color printing. We offer an economical black text print with up to 4 lines from our standard template as well as custom art or we can import your own artwork.
Copies
Copies of your finished project are available along with custom printing, packaging, labeling and shrink wrapping.
Photo Prints From Video:
We can make 4x6 photos from your video footage! There are a number of reasons for wanting to grab a still photo from a videotape. Businesses often videotape events but forget their still cameras. Police or detectives sometime need a photo from a security video camera. Often our customers have no other images of a loved one except what can be taken from a video. Just call us for an appointment, come in and show us where exactly to cue the tape and we’ll do the rest. Printing just takes a few moments so you can leave with your prints.
Add Music Or Narration:
Normally, with most video transfers, the audio is already included on the original. If not, we can add music or a voice over narration to enhance your show. We can use your originals or recordings, or record new material in our studio or edit suites. Check with customer service for the additional cost involved.
Video Looping:
Have your video repeat over and over again. Great for trade show booths, your lobby or showroom. Act One can take your originals and in our editing suite author the DVD or VCD to loop continuously.
There really is no such thing as a videotape that will loop continuously without rewinding it, although there are VCR's that will automatically rewind your tape and play it over and over again, unattended.
